A Story of Service – A History of Dedication – A Lifetime of Faith
The Knights of St Columba is unique in the Catholic Church. We owe this to the inspired vision of our founders of nearly a century ago. It would have been easy in those dark days just after the Great War, for our Order to be inward looking and solely care for the welfare of our members and families, but those forward looking men put devotion and dedication
to our Church & Faith, at the heart of the new organisation.
Those ideals have continued to the present day.
Our service and projects informed by our faith enhance our unique position within the Laity.
Our willingness to support our Church and Communities, our commitment to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and our drive to develop young people in their journey of Faith is paramount to our mission in today’s society.
To truly be a Knight is to live the virtues of Charity, Unity and Fraternity. We are always striving to be better Catholic men, better husbands, fathers and sons, better neighbours.
But what makes us different to other service organisations is the spiritual dimension; what the Second Vatican Council referred to as “the universal call to holiness.” That is the spirit of the Order; being a Lay Apostle.
Since our humble beginnings in Glasgow in 1919, the Knights of St Columba has spread throughout the length and breadth of Britain. Today, we have a membership of over 4000 and through the good works we do we hope that our numbers will increase.
Our spirit is alive and active and will not be stifled.
The only way we know how to keep the spirit alive is by sharing our story with every eligible Catholic man. The story of the Knights of St Columba is an exciting and inspirational one. It is good to let others know who we are, what we stand for and what we try to do.
The Order of the Knights of St Columba, however, must be lived. And it must be lived by more Catholic men.
If you wish to join in us in our journey, now is the time to take the Opportunity to Serve.
